Like its big sister, line 2 of the Tours tramway features a design deeply rooted in the areas it passes through. Designed as a veritable “mobile grove,” it creates a dialogue between the landscape, local customs, and the identity of Tours, while retaining the iconic features of the Tours tramway.
The exterior design has been subtly updated. The mirrored livery, a signature feature of the network, is now darker to better capture the reflections of the Cher River, which runs alongside this second line. The lighting signature specific to Tours remains unchanged: vertical LED strips in white at the front and red at the rear, ensuring continuity and immediate recognition. The front end is more sloped to meet new safety standards, while blending in discreetly with the existing identity.
The interior of the tram reflects the neighborhoods it passes through. On the floor of this “mobile grove,” a soil-colored covering anchors the project in the landscape. On the walls, the DNA of the first line is reaffirmed through the red of silk and the greige of tuffeau stone, identifying markers of the Tours tramway.
The textile seat coverings evoke the moss and foliage of forests. A soothing, plant-inspired palette accompanies passengers and reinforces the link between the tramway, nature, and its territory.
